My son understands everything I say in Spanish, but he always answers me in English. Is that normal?
FamiLingua
Very normal, and you are not alone in this. Understanding and speaking are two different skills, and speaking needs its own chances to happen.
So it's not too late?
FamiLingua
Not at all. Tell me about a normal evening at home: when do you two talk the most?

Let’s be honest

Bilingual parenting is hard. It’s okay to get help.

Parenting is hard on its own. Raising your bilingual child in more than one language adds a whole new layer, and nobody hands you a manual for it.

This is a place to say how it’s really going, the good days and the frustrating ones. Then we work out your next step together, like sitting down for coffee with a friend who has been there. Plain words, no linguistics terms, and a plan that fits your family.

Raising bilingual children does not happen by accident. It takes intention, strategy, and support.

What changes

How this shows up in your home

You solve today's problem in a way that keeps your language alive for the years ahead.

01

You stop guessing

You have a framework, not a random tip. When your child answers in the other language, you know what to do next.

The Beginning

02

Your bilingual child starts speaking

Not because you forced it, but because speaking your language became something they need.

The Shift

03

You trust yourself as a bilingual parent

Not because it got easy. Because you know what you are doing, and why.

The Arrival

The languages change. Your approach doesn't.

Common Questions

Is it okay that I find this hard?

Yes. Parenting is hard, and bilingual parenting adds a whole new layer. Finding it hard doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong, and getting help is how most families who succeed get there.

Do I need to know any linguistics?

Not at all. Everything here is explained in plain words, the way a friend would explain it over coffee. You tell us how it’s really going at home, and we work out the next step together.

What do I get as a Center member?

Every online course and workshop, live chat with the FamiLingua experts, the monthly live with Gema, the magazine and a members-only group. Is there a monthly option?

Center membership is billed every 3 months, every 6 months or yearly. On the 3-month option that works out at $17 a month.

Will it work for our languages?

Yes. Everything at FamiLingua works for any language combination, two languages or five.

Will this take a lot of time?

No. You do not need an extra hour in your day. The changes happen inside the moments you already share: meals, the car, bedtime.
